Policy for generative AI

Generative AI has gained a real boost the latest years. Used rightly it can be game-changer for software productivity, but in a study situation it can be counter-productive. In the courses TDDC93/TDDC88/725G64 we apply the following principle:

Lecture exercises:

In 2025, the use of generative AI tools is permitted, but students take full responsibility for all the content that they submit.

Individual project reports, solutions to labs, other written assignments:

Using generation of results is strictly forbidden, just as copying from other written sources, or other students' results.

Artifacts in project:

Using generative AI in the project is okay in principle, but:

  1. Do it responsibly. You are responsible for the output – you cannot abdicate that responsibility to the AI.
  2. Do it transparently. Describe clearly what you used it for and what you learned.
