Scientific Production

The project expects to contribute scientific results in the following areas:
  • Human-computer interaction
  • Dialogue management
  • Document management
  • Multimodal interpretation
  • Knowledge representation and co-ordination
  • Multi-modal information retrieval and extraction
  • Text mining
  • Multi lingual issues of information retrieval and extraction

These results will be submitted to the most important conferences and workshops in the respective areas.

Two applications illustrating the use of language engineering technology within the e-home framework will be produced during the first year:

  1. A dialogue system for accessing information about television programmes and broadcasting details (in co-operation with Nokia and Nokia Media Terminal).
  2. An information extraction system tailored for public service information (in co-operation with Ida System AB).
A number of scientific reports describing state-of-the art research and feasibility studies concerning vital considerations for future development of the project will be produced.
