Preparation
- Conduct the lab and reflect on what you did before the seminar.
- Read Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Names by Patrick McKenzie.
- Read about plural forms for translation.
- Read An Empirical Study of Cross-Platform Mobile Development in Industry.
Send a link to your gitlab repository for the lab with your changes as well as a confirmation that you have read the selected articles. Your submission should be a realistic attempt at solving the lab; there may be some parts you misunderstood or failed to solve (in that case, include some of your discarded ideas or non-working solutions in the comments).
The seminar
You will be assigned to seminar groups with 6 students in each group, in which you shall discuss:
- During the labs, did everyone end up with files of the same size for all the platforms and methods used? Was this the same for every pair?
- Pros and cons of the different approaches to cross-platform development and what localization and internationalization means and requires.
- How would your team design an application that ran on multiple platforms and supported many different languages? Make a short outline.
- Does any of this change when you develop for mobile platforms?
At the end, we will discuss your solutions together with the whole class.
Passing requirements
This seminar is part of UPG1, and has the following requirements:- Preparation submitted before the seminar. Send an email when it is prepared:
TDDE45: Submission Seminar 4 (...) Regards, Name (student ID) and Name (student ID)
- Active participation during the seminar. Make sure to take notes.
Note: The lab reports are sent in after the corresponding seminars (giving you time to improve the implementation based on what was said during the seminar).
