TDDC90 Software Security (6 ECTS)

HT2

News and information

Welcome to Software Security (TDDC90). This course consists of lectures, labs, and self-study of literature.

Important: Changes due to surgery

Due to a scheduled major surgery, I (Ulf Kargén) will not be able to attend physically during the lectures, and I will also be on sick leave during part of the course. Due to these exceptional circumstances, some special provisions will have to be made for the course this year. However, we will do our best to minimize disruptions and to ensure a good course experience for all students.

In summary, the following changes will be made:

  • I will be on sick leave for 3-4 weeks, starting from November 12 December 5. During this time, please direct questions of administrative nature (e.g., change of lab groups) to my colleague Alireza Mohammadinodooshan.
  • All lectures given by me (Ulf) will be in distance mode via Zoom (see the schedule page for more information).
  • Lectures given by other teachers (Ahmed Rezine and Kristian Sandahl) will be given on-campus as usual. Please direct subject-specific questions about static analysis to Ahmed, and questions on software engineering reviews to Kristian. You can find their email addresses on the contact page.
  • Recordings for all lectures (except Kristian's) will be published on the schedule page. As a precaution, a recording of the last lecture (on December 8) will be published ahead of time, in case I will not be able to give it "live".
  • Lab sessions will be held as usual on-campus.
  • If possible (depending on how fast I recover), I will try to book a Q&A session towards the end of the course (mid-December), where students can ask me questions and get help with preparing for the exam. If and when this will take place will be communicated later via the course email-list.

Lectures and labs

Please check the schedule for lectures and labs. You are free to do the labs in the order and pace you prefer, but we recommend that you try to follow the lab schedule. Detailed lab instructions are found on the lab page.

Literature

The course literature consists of a set of articles. All articles on the literature page together with the lecture slides (posted on the same page as the schedule) are mandatory reading for the exam. We recommend that you read the articles for a specific lab before that session since it will help you to understand the lab better. There are topics in the literature that will not appear in any lecture, however these may still appear on the exam.
