My research interests reside at the intersection of cognitive science, interaction design, and service design. I focus on the situated cognition involved in the design and the use of interactive systems and services. My research aims to uncover how the world presents itself in acts of perception, memory, and reasoning during both designers' and users' embodied interaction with their physical and social environments. The research has its theoretical roots in a combination and juxtaposition of phenomenological philosophy, pragmatism, and sociocultural activity theory. The units of analysis are experience, activity or consciousness, and entail the dynamics of cognition over time.
