The Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA) has postgraduate education in two core subjects: computer science and computer systems. In addition to these core subjects, graduate education also covers several interdisciplinary areas in which computer science and computer systems are involved.

Each graduate performs research within a research laboratory while taking courses from the entire department and, in some cases, from other departments. The education is administered by a Director of Graduate Studies and a secretariat. An extensive part of the graduate education at IDA is carried out in a number of graduate schools.
