Goals
To obtain an overview of the green networking area with more emphasis on the wireless communication. Understand recent developments in defining, measuring and optimising network nodes and access points' energy footprint. Learn how to critically evaluate research in this area based on discussion of studies published in recent research papers.
Prerequisites
Networking, architecture, distributed systems, real-time systems courses at Masters level.
Contents
The lectures will be covering the following areas: Green networking applications (ICT for Green, smart grids, building), Wired networks basic energy footprint, Wireless networks (cellular, wifi, adhoc, incl. mobile devices) footprint, Trends (wireless clouds). There will also be student presentations based on recent research papers.
