Call for research contributions

Hockey analytics uses data related to ice hockey events to obtain insights about the sport and its surroundings. The insights can, for example, relate to player and team performance, strategies, training, injuries, rules of the game, scheduling, and ticketing. There has been a growing interest in hockey analytics in the last decade in the clubs, in the entertainment industry, with fans and in academia.

Topics of interest for LINHAC include (but are not limited to) data-driven approaches for senior and junior, men's and women's ice hockey:

  • Game strategy, tactics, and analysis
  • Player and team performance
  • Player acquisition, player valuation, and team spending
  • Training and player fitness
  • Player mental health
  • Injury prediction and prevention
  • Game and season outcome prediction
  • Season and tournament scheduling
  • Fan engagement
  • Ticketing and merchandizing strategies
  • Use of analytics in entertainment industry

Submission guidelines

Paper submission and reviewing for this conference are organized via hotcrp at https://linhac23.hotcrp.com/. The papers should be written in English, following the Springer LNCS format, and be submitted in PDF latest April 11, 2023, AOE. For details on the PDF submission format, see Springer's LNCS guidelines. (Please, do not use headers, footers, page numbers. These will be added by LINHAC.)
The papers will be reviewed according to the single blind review principle.

The following types of contributions are welcome. The recommended page length is given in brackets. There is no strict page limit, but the length of a paper should be commensurate with its contribution.

  • Full research papers (8-12 pages)
  • Position papers (2-6 pages)
  • Industry papers (2-6 pages)
  • Data description and system papers (2-6 pages)
  • Poster papers (2-6 pages)

Note: For presentation of accepted papers and inclusion in the proceedings, we require one registration per paper.
