ENGO is an interdisciplinary research programme in which the development of tools and procedures for data analysis is integrated with studies of communication processes between different levels of the environmental administration and between scientists and practitioners.

The programme aims to:

  • develop statistical principles and software for extracting anthropogenic signals from environmental data influenced by natural variation;
  • develop cost-effective procedures for the collection of multivariate environmental data and the evaluation of temporal changes in such data;
  • develop methods to communicate complex information about status and trends in the ecological functionality of landscapes;
  • identify and handle obstacles for communicating progress or lack of progress towards environmental quality objectives;
  • identify conflicts and synergies between the environmental code and management by objectives
