Large-Scale Software Development: Contributions and Evolution

Contribution plans

Before you make contributions in a project, you need to make sure you understand how you will be assessed in the course. To that end, you need to make a plan in which you specify how you plan to achieve the goals described in the course information. For each category in the tables listed on the course information page, you should specify how you plan to fulfill the requirements stated (regarding the development process and contributions), or how you believe that the project fulfills the requirements stated (for the categories technical difficulty and process difficulty).

Your document shall contain sections that describe how a project fulfills each criterion, and how you plan to ensure that your work and your contributions fulfill the criteria for a desired grade in the course. Remember, that in order to achieve a passing grade, you will have to plan for conducting work that corresponds to the number of credits in the course. Structure your document so that each category ("Technical difficulty", "process difficulty", "Development process", "Contributions") has a header and section of their own. Also, within each section you shall justify why you believe your proposed contributions and process will fulfill each criterion. Write in your own words how you plan to do this. It does not have to be a long document, but you need to give some thought to how you plan to achieve your goals in the course.

Tools and process

Within your teams, you shall make sure to decide how you plan to communicate with one another, and keep track of your own progress towards making submissions. Feel free to use any tools that you like, as long as you make it clear to the course staff how you communicate and are able to demonstrate during seminars that you are actively supporting one another. Include the tools that you plan to use in your contribution plan documents.

Submitting plans

In the first seminar on Wednesday September 7, we will discuss your contribution plans. We recommend that you bring a draft of your contribution plan that you can present at the seminar.

You will upload your final plans in you Teams file area as PDF documents by Monday, September 14 23:59 at the latest. Name your contribution plan "TDDE14_HT2020_contribution_plan_LiU-ID.pdf" where "LiU-ID" is your student id, such as "abcde123".

Assignment in groups

Based on the contents of your plans, you will be assigned to a group of students who will work together during the course.
