ABSTRACT = {We describe here a database, NODE (Network Object-Oriented Database Environment), which has been built as the base layer for LINCKS (Link{\"o}pings INtelligent Communication of Knowledge System), an ongoing research project in the Knowledge Representation Laboratory at Link{\"o}ping University.The database was designed and built especially for the LINCKS project, which is a project aiming at a highly integrated intelligent system for use by end users in a wide variety of application areas. We give a brief overview of some of the goals in the larger project which motivated the design of the database. We also discuss some A.I. applications which are being built using NODE.},
