Modern embedded control systems comprise several periodic or sporadic tasks that execute on platforms with several computation and communication components. The sharing of computation and communication resources among the tasks leads to complex system timing that in turn influences the control quality directly. The control-quality degradation can be minimized by proper scheduling of tasks and messages, as well as by using delay compensation during controller synthesis. These aspects have been investigated as a part of our research.

Other relevant aspects in modern embedded control systems are that the demand on computation and communication resources varies at runtime due to several factors: mode changes, fault occurences, and state changes of computer-controlled physical processes. Our research aims to develop resource-management frameworks for such adaptive embedded systems that are efficient in terms on resource usage and control quality.
