PhD Position in Embedded Systems Design
Design of Cloud-Based Cyber-Physical Systems
Linköping University invites applications for a fully-funded position at the Embedded Systems Laboratory
Project Description:
Cloud computing technology has enabled the deployment of predictable real-time cloud-based controllers for many complex cyber-physical systems. This PhD project aims at the development of rigorous modeling, analysis, and design techniques for such cloud-based systems. The developed techniques should support different design trade-offs related to control quality, cost, timing, and energy consumption.
The project should also address the issues of graceful degradation of a CPS in the presence of various disturbances including hardware failure and malicious attacks. Machine-learning techniques will be developed to characterize the disturbances as well as dynamic behavior of a CPS, so that they can be taken into account in the design optimization process as well as during its operation. We will also study issues related to security and robustness of cloud-based control, for example, how a local controller can verify the correctness of the results returned from the cloud.
Qualifications:- Completed at least four years of full-time university studies in computer science or related fields.
- Strong background in discrete mathematics and programming languages.
- Solid knowledge in embedded systems design and design space exploration.
- Project experience in machine learning techniques.
