Linköping University Electronic Press

Author instructions for authors using Framemaker

by Stefan Holmlid, IDA

General

A style file has been prepared for preparing E-Press articles using Framemaker, but with an appearance that is similar to the etendu style that has been used for the initial E-Press publications. The style sheet has been prepared by Stefan Holmlid at IDA, and has presently only been configured for the series "Computer and Information Science".

This style file is available in the IDA computer system at
/info/www/ext/epa/styles/frame/etendu.fm
and can be fetched by web from

Technical details

This template is intended for use when writing an article for Linköping Electronic Articles in Computer and Information Science using FrameMaker 5. Unfortunately, without some tampering with the macro files, BibFrame does not work together with FrameMaker 5, and hence not together with this template.

First of all, it is important that you use the paragraph style Author for the name of the author and nothing else. The name of the author is automatically copied to the information page. Hence, if you don't follow this advice, cross-references to the name of the author might be erroneous.

Second, if you don't write an abstract within the report, you need to change the starting page number. Choose Format, Document, Numbering and change the -1 to a zero.

Third, there are some examples of the use of some of the paragraph styles in the template, on the following pages. Three paragraph styles are worth special attention here, the reference paragraph styles. ReferenceNmbrdFirst and ReferenceNmbrd should be used when you want to obtain a reference list following the ACM standard. ReferenceAlpha should be used when you want to obtain a reference list following the APA standard. Reference should be used in cases when BibCard is utilized for the construction of the reference list.

Fourth, you and the editor of the series need to make sure, before publishing, that the volume number, the year of publication, and the report number are correctly defined through their respective variables.

Finally, as you may well know it is easy to create postcript as well as PDF formatted files from FrameMaker. The HTML version of your abstract needs to be hand made.
