Subsequent menu items link to descriptions of the various parts of our current system: the Dialog Manager, the Presentation System, and so on. Two of these systems have a common base, namely the DOSAR Dialog Agent and the DOSAR Simulator. They are both implemented in CommonLisp and based on the Software Individuals Architecture (SIA) which is also described in a separate item on the present menu. By way of comparison, our current Presentation System has a different character: it consists of several large systems that we have obtained from elsewhere, and complemented with a limited amount of C and Java code developed here.
In general, we use the acronym "DOSAR" for the family of AOA-related systems that are based on the Software Individuals Architecture. At present this family consists of the Dialog Agent and the Simulator. We are also planning to add a third member of the family, namely the DOSAR Information Manager which will be a system for management of documents and structured data, for use as an additional part of the presentation system of the AOA. Please use the tab for 'IMS Architecture' in the main menu (not the submenu) for additional information about the Information Manager.
The acronym 'DOSAR' originally stood for 'Dialogue-Oriented Simulation and Reasoning', reflecting that the DOSAR Simulator was historically the first system. It was realized later on that large parts of the software structure for the simulator were also appropriate for the dialogue system. A second interpretation of the acronym is now 'Dialogue-enabled Operator Support Agent for Robots', therefore.
