Webnotes are pages written in HTML that can be displayed within the CAISOR frame. The present page is a webnote, for example. Each webnote may exist in several versions due to revisions over time; each version is labelled with the date when it was posted on-line on the main CAISOR website. It is the intention that each webnote shall apply to a specific topic, although the details of the presentation of that topic may change over time. In this way it shall become possible both to cite the webnote as such (across versions) and to cite a particular version of the webnote.
Technically, a webnote as such is cited as in the following example
http://www.ida.liu.se/ext/caisor/top/webnotes/page.htmland a particular version as in
http://www.ida.liu.se/ext/caisor/top/webnotes/page-050316.htmlreferring to the version of the webnote that was posted on March 16, 2005. The contents of page.html are always equal to the contents of the latest version of the webnote.
The simplest way to find out the name of a particular webnote is to open it in a separate browser window. In order to find out the name of the current version, one uses the link for [Version history] at the bottom of the webnote text.
