WITAS Project on Intelligent UAV

The WITAS project (Wallenberg Laboratory for Information Technology and Autonomous Systems) is funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. It begun on January 1, 1997 and was planned for a seven-year period (1997-2003). The final demo for the project was held according to plans in October, 2003.

Based on an extension of the period for spending the initial grant and an additional grant, WITAS activities have continued during 2004 and 2005 although at a reduced rate. It is now organized as two distinct, cooperating projects: the WITAS UAV technologies project, headed by Patrick Doherty, and the WITAS dialogue technology project, headed by Erik Sandewall.

The continuation of these projects is highly dependent on national political priorities concerning unmanned aerial vehicles, and negotiations continue to be in progress.

Please refer to the WITAS webpage for further details.
