Integration of External Data Sources in a Mediator Architecture
The project aims at developing methods for integrating external data sources
in a mediator architecture. Methods are needed for communication between
mediators, databases, and external data sources over unreliable networks. For
example, it needs to be studied how to optimally execute queries that access
remote data sources. Such queries will retrieve bulks-loads of data from
several distributed data sources. These problems become important when
dealing with databases in Internet and mobile environments. Another related
problem to investigate is how to deal with active external data sources
accessed over a computer network and used in active rules in mediators.
