PhD students with at least a basic course in computer security and a interest to know about the research frontier in security research.

Goals

* Discuss current research results from top venues with your peers.
* Classify, select, and solve problems related to recent security-related problems.
* Design, develop and implement a seminar on a research topic in the security area.
* Develop and evaluate new learning opportunities for your peers.
* Appraise, critique and evaluate research papers.
* Present technically advanced work in a pedagogical manner.

Prerequisites

Basic course in computer security.

Organization

The course is based on a series of seminars where the PhD student prepares a seminar based on selected papers. The seminar starts and ends with a quiz prepared by the student and taken by the other participants.

Content

Current research papers from top security venues such as S&P, Usenix, NDSS, WiSec, CSF, RAID, DSN.

Literature

Papers chosen by course participants.

Lectures

Introduction lecture.

Examination

1.5hp for preparing a giving a seminar.
0.5hp for each attended seminar including preparation, active participation, answering the quiz and providing feedback.
