About SOFT
The SOFT series of workshops and seminars are organized by the Computer and Information Science department at Linköping University. This series of seminars and workshops is part of our effort to promote state-of-the-art software engineering technologies and methodologies and to promote communication and cooperation between the research community and the Swedish software industry.

Previous SOFT seminars have covered software reliability engineering, engineering safety-critical systems, software certification and the win-win requirements negotiation system, among many other topics.

SOFT-22 is arranged in association with Dataföreningen i Sverige, Östra kretsen.

Kent Beck owns and operates First Class Software, Inc., where he focuses on his two greatest interests, patterns and Extreme Programming. He has helped pioneer ideas like patterns for software development, CRC cards, the xUnit testing frameworks, the HotDraw drawing editor framework, and the re-discovery of test-first programming. He is the author of more than 50 technical articles, "The Smalltalk Best Practice Patterns", "Extreme Programming Explained: Embrace Change", and (with Martin Fowler) the forthcoming "Planning Extreme Programming". He has also contributed to Martin Fowler's "Refactoring Improving the Design of Existing Code".
