Sara Jägare, Project manager of the Distance Supported Learning for Local Knowledge Needs project (DLK), has been engaged in trade union work since 1987. She started as a local shop steward in The Graphic Workers´ Union, and in 1995 she was assigned as ombudsman in The Social Insurance Employees´ and Insurance Agents´ Union. Her engagement was focused on education issues, information sharing and how to get young people engaged in trade union work. She has been responsible for the arrangement of courses and development of web-sites for information sharing. Since 2000 she is a member of LO's IT advisory board.
Sara has participated in the DLK project since 1999. First as a central adviser-participant for the Social Insurance Employees´ and Insurance Agents´ Union and since the beginning of 2000 acting as the Project manager. During the engagement in DLK she has produced reports on IT use in the Swedish Trade Union Confederation, co-authored scientific articles, and given several talks on possible use of IT in trade union environments. Her main professional interests are to explore how IT can support trade union organisations and representatives, how an e-manicipatory learning environment could be achieved.
