Program Directors

Professor Patrick Doherty is Linköping University's LinkLab representative.

Patrick Doherty is a Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA), Linköping University, Sweden. He is the director of the Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems Division at IDA and head of the Knowledge Processing Laboratory. He is also ECCAI Fellow and associate editor of the Artificial Intelligence Journal. His current research interests include formal knowledge representation and approximate reasoning, automated planning, reasoning about action and change, autonomous aerial robotics systems, and software architectures for autonomous systems. He has published over 150 refereed scientific publications in his areas of expertise. Dr. Doherty was previously project leader of the WITAS UAV project (1997-2005), a large, long term university project funded by the Wallenberg Foundation with over 20 researchers from different disciplines. One result of the project is a fully deployed VTOL system which operates autonomously in urban areas and which is currently used in LinkLab activities. More recently, focus has moved in the direction of cooperative UA Systems and micro aerial vehicles.

Dr. Gunnar Holmberg is Saab Aero System's LinkLab representative.

Gunnar Holmberg is Director of business development at Saab Aerosystems. He focuses currently on European programs and strategy. His previous assignment as program manager technology included the design and execution of Saab Aerosystems business aligned research and technology acquisition process. He has earlier been responsible for Integrated Product Development which included implementation of distributed co- developments with e.g. Airbus, BAE Systems, JAS 39 Gripen suppliers and remote sites. He holds a Ph.D. with the title "On aircraft development- managing flexible complex systems with long life cycles"
