PhD project

The early stages of service design projects are subject to research and have been described thoroughly in the existing literature. Ethnographic approaches combined with probe studies, diaries and interviews are described at length by both acedemics and practitioners. One area that is largely overlooked this far, is service prototyping. There are some attempts at defining service prototyping, but those are not empirically grounded and mostly the term is used without any clear definition. My early research is built on interviews with practicing service designers that will help conceptualise the area and provide a language of service prototyping that takes the specific properties of services as a design material, into account.
