TDDE25 Perspectives in Computer and Software Technology

Examination

Requirements for HT1:

We will use the on-line quiz system in LISAM for your first period examination. Most lectures will have an on-line quiz that will open during the lecture and can be accessed in LISAM for a given time period of at least 15 minutes. The quiz usually opens 20 minutes before the end of the lecture, but can sometimes open slightly later, in which case the lecturer should inform you. At some point when the quiz is open, there will be a silent 5-minute break for you to answer the questions without listening to the lecture.

Quizzes will be present during all lectures except the course introduction (the first lecture) and the project introduction (usually the last lecture). You should pass 9 out of the 12 quizzes given for a passing mark for the first period.

Note that any form of collaboration during the quiz is considered cheating!

If you do not pass the quiz part of the course, you will be expected to write an "original" report on one of the topics related to the course contents that you can suggest or that we can  provide for you towards the end of the first period.

The report must be a minimum of 10 pages using 11 point font with 2.5 centimeter margins. This report will be evaluated and given a pass or fail grade. If a fail grade is given, you will have to revise and submit again for a passing grade. Final deadline for the report is the end of the first exam period for the course.

The basic default is that no one should need to write a report. The quizzes are moderately easy and should not be problematic to pass for any student if one attends lectures, reads the course material and listens attentively.

Requirements for HT2:

During HT2, there will be no lectures or quizzes. Instead we will focus on a software project whose examination requirements are specified on the project web pages.

Important Rules for Examination

Rules for examination of computer lab assignments at IDA

You are expected to do lab assignments in group or individually, as instructed for a course. However, examination is always based on individual performance.

It is not allowed to hand in solutions copied from other students, or from elsewhere, even if you make changes to the solutions. If there is suspicion of such, or any other form of cheating, teachers are obliged to report it to the University Disciplinary Board.

Be prepared to answer questions about details in specific code and its connection to theory. You may also be asked to explain why you have chosen a specific solution. This applies to all group members.

If you foresee problems meeting a deadline, contact your teacher. You can then get some help and maybe the deadline can be set to a later date. It is always better to discuss problems, instead of, e.g., to cheat.

Any kind of academic dishonesty, such as cheating (e.g., plagiarism, use of unauthorized assistance, and use of prohibited AI-based assistants) and failure to comply with university examination rules, may result in the filing of a complaint to the University Disciplinary Board. The potential penalties include suspension, warning.

Policy for handing in computer lab assignments at IDA

For all IDA courses having computer lab assignments there will be one deadline during or at the end of the course. If you fail to make the deadline, you must retake the, possibly new, lab course the next time the course is given.

If a course deviates from this policy, information will be given on the course web pages.
