General information

This is a common web presentation of the courses TDDB68 and TDDB72.

These two courses share most lectures, all labs, and the written exam.

Both TDDB68 and TDDB72 cover concepts in concurrent programming and operating systems. The course TDDB72 additionally also covers real-time operating systems.

The courses consists of lectures (Fö), laboratory lessons (Le), and laboratory time (La) to complete programming assignments. There are two extra lectures for TDDB72 dedicated to real-time systems (these are optional for TDDB68), and there is also a small "research project", which is to be reported with a written paper and an oral presentation and discussion of selected papers, as an additional examination moment (1p) in TDDB72.

The major part of the courses is located in HT1 (august-october). Only a small part of the lab series (of both TDDB68 and 72) and the real-time systems project of TDDB72 are left for HT2 (november, december).

TDDB68 is selectable for our international students; the courses are given in English. Therefore, lectures and lessons are given in English.

If you forgot to register, please follow the studierektor's instructions for late registration.
Exchange students please read the paragraph "Registration" on practical arrangements page.

Because of limited assistant resources, we can not keep existing class structures of the participating programs C, D, Y etc. Instead, the lab groups are formed by registration in webreg. Webreg registration will be opened a few days before course start.
The lessons, which prepare for the lab series, are given for all students together in a large lecture hall.

News

  • Exam review (tentavisning): On friday 19/1 12:15-13:00 in room Donald Knuth there will be an opportunity for you to review your exam of 18 dec 2006 and ask us if you have questions regarding the correction.

  • Planning for exam correction: Please note that, due to absence of assistants during the Xmas vacation phase 21/12-7/1 we expect that the result of the exam of 18/12 will be available in Ladok by 15 january 2007.
As we must prioritize the correction of the exam, we cannot guarantee that late lab results will be counted as a year 2006 result.

  • [TDDB72 only] Clarification of the instructions for opponents 5/12/2006:
    (a) You can prepare and submit the 150 words comment and the 3 questions together with your project mate. We aim at giving each individual opponent the opportunity to ask at least one question after the presentation.
    (b) We expect that at least one from each presenting group will show up. In the worst case, we will ask for a voluntary opponent group to improvise a presentation (of their own project work, of course).

  • [TDDB72 only] Schedule for TDDB72 RTOS-conference presentations/opposition 5/12/2006 10-12

  • The result of the muddy card evaluation of 12/9/2006 can be found here.

  • Please register for a lab group using webreg for TDDB72-2006 before the first lab session, that is, by 01/09/2006.
As the webreg code of TDDB72 is used for both TDDB68 and TDDB72 students, TDDB68 students may get a warning saying they are not registered on this course (TDDB72). Ignore this message (just make sure that you are registered on your course). This is due to a design flaw of webreg, as it is not flexible enough to allow for multiple course codes sharing the same webreg lab entry. We try to work around.

  • For former students of this course who took the re-exam of 18/8/2006:
Due to longer absence of assistants involved in the exam correction process, the correction work will take approximately 3 weeks. We expect to have the results ready by end of week 36.
