12/6  Lab results

I have now finally looked at your lab reports for 'Statistical Models for Textual Data'.
The following students have completed all necessary labs (remember only 2 out 3 of the introductory modules are mandatory): Måns Magnusson, Leif Jonsson, Paolo Elena, Uriel Chareca, Dag Sonntag, Zlatan Dragisic, Sebastiano Milardo, Tomas Peterka and Marcus Berndtsen.
If your name is not on this list and you think it should be, send me (Mattias) an email.

11/6  Project presentations

I have posted slides from the project presentations here.

7/6  Text Mining research seminar at CILTLAB.

On Tuesday, June 11, Heshaam Faili, Assistant Professor, NLP Laboratory, University of Tehran, Iran, and visiting researcher at Ciltlab will give a seminar on Automatic WordNet Construction.
Time: June 11, 15.15-16.30
Room: Herbert Simon, E-building

6/6  An additional day for project presentations

The next day for project presentation will be held on August 29 at 9-12.

27/5  Project presentations

For those of you that will be ready in time with your projects for June 3, here are some instructions for the oral presentation.
You do not need to hand in anything before the presentation. Just prepare a 20 minutes presentation with slides or whatever material you need. A presentation for 20 minutes is very short so don't prepare too many slides.
A typical presentation goes through the stages:
1. problem description and data
2. analysis
3. conclusions
I doesn't hurt to rehearse with a stopwatch before the actual presentation.
The written report should be handed in to me a week after the presentation.
I am VERY much looking forward to your presentations!

16/5  An additional day for project presentations

As you know, the project presentations are scheduled for June 3, at 9-12 AM. For those of you that will not be ready in time with your projects, there will be an additional chance to present your projects in late august. Send me an email if you have suggestions for specific dates, and I will post my decided date on the time schedule.

11/5  Update Information Retrival lab.

Since some of you had some problems with the web crawling part of the lab, here is a zip file consisting of 1400+ app description text files, which is the result data from the crawling step.

7/5  Change of time for lecture

Due to a collision with another course, the extra lecture tomorrow has been re-scheduled to 1.15 PM in Alan Turing.

6/5  List of suggested projects

We have added a list with some projects suggestions here

3/5  Results Python Lab

Here is a list of those who have passed the Python lab. All that submitted their labs passed it. If you submitted, but are not on this list, send me an e-mail (I may have missed your submission). Here are my solutions.

1/5  Additional lecture

We have added an additional lecture in the module Statistical Models for Textual Data. The lecture is schedule for May 8, at 3.15 PM in von Neumann.

4/2  Course timetable updated
