The elementary message (e-message) of Langefors is analysed. An e-message (with its three parts: object, property, time) is characterized as a contents-view of information. From a communicative action perspective (speech act theory) it is claimed that the e-message should be expanded with action concepts. An e-message should also include "action type" and "communicator". This communicative action view on information is taken as a starting point for analysis of business action and business processes. A generic business model is presented. The business process is considered to consist of four phases: 1) Inquiry and negotiation stage 2) contractual stage 3) fulfilment stage and 4) satisfaction stage A comparison is made with the business process conception in BPR (Busi- ness Process Reengineering) and the value chain concept of Porter.}
