A comparison is made between a production rule/semantic network representation and conceptual graph/semantic networks. Results indicate that the varying complexities of each representation ensure unbalanced acquisition between schema and heuristic elicitation.To illustrate this, an example in the domain of engineering design for flight simulators is examined. On the basis of our experience we propose a minimal set of criteria for graphics based interfaces which must be satisfied for successful KBS prototyping.}, IDANR = {LiTH-IDA-R-90-23}, NOTE = {Also in Proc. of 3rd European Workshop on Knowledge Acquisition, Paris, July 1989}
