ABSTRACT = {This paper describes and evaluates a pilot implementation of a model for natural-language understanding. An essential feature of the model is its coupling of a unification-based linguistic description with an object-oriented representation of domain and discourse knowledge. For both tasks knowledge is represented and manipulated as object descriptions in the form of attribute-value structures. These are in turn built up from constraints associated with words and constructions of the grammar and with types and attributes of the domain knowledge base.},
