Traditionally program development may be regarded as a successive definition and testing of procedures and data structures. To reduce the complexity of the programming task and enhance reusage of code modules additional tools are required. This paper discusses some tools that should be available in a programming environment for Treaded Interpretive Languages. Some of the basic ideas from the advanced programming environments of INTERLISP and Smalltalk-80 are related and discussed.}, IDANR = {LiTH-IDA-R-88-42}, NOTE = {Also in Proc. of the 8th Rochester Forth Conference on Programming Environments, Rochester, New York, USA, June 1988}
