Master Thesis - Past Projects - AbstractExtending HAVi to the WebID: LiTH-IDA-Ex-01/9 This report presents a thesis work performed at Nokia, Linköping. It examines the possibilities of extending HAVi to the web. HAVi is a
standard for connecting digital audio and video equipment in home networks. This standard will most likely be supported by future
products developed by Nokia intended for home use.
This work studies how to make interaction with devices in the home network even more flexible; it shows how to extend interaction with
HAVi enabled devices to a web browser. The HAVi network and the remotely located web browser is connected via the Internet.
The solution described in this report is based on the Java applet class and works perfectly with a Java tool called Appletviewer and the
HotJava Browser 3.0 from Sun Microsystems. However, these tools are not normally used for Internet browsing, especially not the
Appletviewer which is a tool dedicated to developing applets. Keywords: HAVi, home networks, web interface Author(s): Stefan Hellman Contact: Jörgen Hansson
