Master Thesis - Past Projects - AbstractSimulatorns livscykel, Integrering av nytt scenarioformatID: LiTH-IDA-Ex-01/84 When a simulator is going to be extended to be able to read another scenario
format than the one that it is based on, certain conflicts arise. The
new format may contain entities and attributes that the simulator can not
handle. The question is how to evaluate those units so that a decision
can be made about which of them should be implemented in the simulator.
For this purpose, three different methods each considering different aspects are
proposed. The first method mainly strives to keep a good balance
in the simulator and saves time by using expert opinions. The second method is
rather an aid to use the time that is allocated to implement new
units in the simulator as effectively as possible. The third method prioritises
what users of the simulator want to extend it with.
The three methods were applied in a case where the Swedish defence
establishment's (FMV's) simulator FbSim was extended in order to be able
to read scenarios presented in another format used when simulating anti air
defence (GRYS).
The study shows that none of the three methods are complete but that they rather
serve to complement each other. The result is a method in
which the three analysed methods are sub-processes that are applied partly
sequentially, partly in paral Keywords: Simulation objects and entities Author(s): Pia Johansson Contact: Simin Nadjm-Tehrani
