Master Thesis - Past Projects - AbstractMetadata Management of MHO DataID: LiTH-IDA-Ex-00/104 SMHI has large volumes of meteorological, hydrological and oceanographic data (MHO data) in the data warehouse. However, data are not completely and uniformly documented. A major problem is to locate appropriate information and to interpret the data in a correct way. In this thesis, a metadata model is proposed for documenting and searching all the existing data. The project adopts FGDC standard (Federal Geographic Data Committee) and develops a profile for MHO data. The proposed solution simplifies data manipulation in the large databases and file systems. It enables complete documentation within the data warehouse and on the Internet among the world meteorological communities. In this project, a search tool is also implemented based on the model.
