Multimodal Interaction for Information Services
Relevance and impact on societyThe project strengthens the basis for Swedish language technology and its role internationally.
The project addresses issues related to industrial use and acceptance of language technology and the use of language technology for information providers and consumers. This will contribute to an information society for all. Multimodal natural language interaction is one of the most, if not the most, natural communication mean. Public, and other information, is mostly found in unstructured documents. Combining multimodal interaction and document processing techniques, thus provides the basis for wide public access of information, that today is very hard to assemble, as it is spread among many information sources, and also requires the formulation of complex requests. Language technology, in various forms, is useful in a variety of situations. However, this is not substantially utilised within industry and society today. One of this projects' more important goals is to demonstrate the potential of language technology.
