Organization in Phase I

In Phase I, the WITAS project consisted of four subprojects, called Autonomy, Vision, Software, and Systems. Each subproject was commissioned to a research group in the Department of Electrical Engineering (for "Vision") or the Department of Computer and Information science (for the three other subprojects). Each of the research groups was also engaged in other projects besides WITAS, but WITAS was a major undertaking for each of them.

The Autonomy and Vision subprojects continued into phase II. The Systems subproject has a more limited continuation in the cooperation with Lund university for the on-board computer system. (This happened because the group leader, professor Kris Kuchcinski, left Linköping to take up a position in Lund). The Software subproject left WITAS after phase I since its major contribution - the Modelica system - was ready for commercialization.

The Board and the funding and budgeting system was the same as in Phase II.
