General Information about the ETAI

This is the webpage structure of the Electronic Transactions on Artificial Intelligence, or ETAI.

The ETAI is an electronic journal that uses the Internet medium to the fullest extent for scientific communication: not merely for distributing the articles, but also for the review procedure, for bibliographic infrastructure, and others more.

With respect to reviewing, we use a novel, two-stage procedure where the first review phase is open and allows the peer community to ask questions to the author, and to create a discussion about the contribution. The second phase - called refereeing in the ETAI - is like conventional journal refereeing except that the major part of the required feedback is supposed to have occurred already in the first, review phase.

After refereeing, accepted articles go into the ETAI Journal which is published in both a paper edition and an electronic edition; the latter is available free of charge on the net. However, the webpage structure of the ETAI also contains a variety of other information, including past discussions, bibliographies, and calendar information. Please feel free to browse.

We have prepared questions to a number of specific questions. Links in the lower part of the sidebar provide answers for the following visitors and questions:

  • Quality Assurance: What are the quality guarentees for articles published in the ETAI? For example, if you are a member of a promotion committee or research grant committee, you need an answer to this question. Please click the item "Quality Assurance" in the sidebar menu.

  • General FAQ: If you are interested in the general issues concerning electronic publication, you may wonder what are the pro's, the con's, and the ramifications of the approach selected by the ETAI. We have prepared our answers in question-answer form under the item "General FAQ" in the sidebar menu.

  • Author's FAQ: If you are an active researcher who might consider submitting an article to the ETAI, you have a host of questions about how it works, how valuable the publication is for you, copyrights, and so on. Please click "Author's FAQ" in the sidebar menu.
