ETAI   Area of Machine Intelligence

Modus Operandi

The MI area of ETAI discusses and publishes articles from the Machine Intelligence workshops. The following procedure has been adopted.

  • Authors obtain a notification and explanation of the proposed arrangements for ETAI publication, and are asked to approve their participation.

  • Each participating article is published with Linköping University Electronic Press, meaning it is archived in its present form and made available to the world. The E-Press makes an agreement with the author(s) that the former keeps the article online for at least 25 years.

  • The participating MI articles are announced on the present ETAI-MI webpage as well as on the general ETAI structure for received articles (under the grey button labeled "The Journal" on the ETAI webpage). Each article obtains its own discussion page.

  • An email mailing list is set up, initialized as the set of the attendants of the MI workshop in question. Members of other ETAI areas with related topics are notified and invited to join.

  • One and a half month is allowed for discussion. Efforts are made to invite discussants in order to get the discussion going. In particular, workshop participants that were active in the discussions there are invited to repeat their questions/comments in writing. Discussion contributions are sent out by email to the mailing list.

  • After the open discussion period, authors are given a chance to revise their paper. A limit is set on the revision time. The revised paper is also published/archived by the E-Press and added to its webpage for each article as usual.

  • Papers (revised, if applicable) are screened by the MI editorial committee. Articles will normally be accepted on the basis of previously having been invited, reviewed and accepted for the MI workshop itself.

  • Accepted papers go into a separate issue for ETAI, within the volume for the year when the workshop was held.
