The Machine Intelligence 16 Workshop took place on 1-3 December, 1998; its theme was "Agent-oriented communication and learning". The full workshop program and list of delegates can be obtained by clicking "Program" in the menu of the present webpage.
It was decided in mid-1999 to publish a selection of articles from this workshop as a special issue in the ETAI. Authors were invited to resubmit their workshop contributions for inclusion in this issue, with an opportunity for revision based on the discussion at the workshop. Submitted articles were refereed by the workshop organizers. The MI 16 special issue has now been published electronically by Linköping University Electronic Press, and can be downloaded from the present webpage (please click "Proceedings" in the menu). A conventional printed issue is being prepared.
