A New Approach to Reviewing and Quality Control
The Electronic Transactions on Artificial Intelligence (ETAI) is a new kind of journal and medium for scientific communication, and uses modern Internet communication technology in novel ways. The basic idea is that submitted articles are subjected to an open review period of three periods before going to confidential refereeing by peers and eventual acceptance for the journal.Quality requirements are set at least as high as for conventional journals. The whole process is transparent: both the discussion during the open review period and the additional comments by the anonymous referees are made public on ETAI's article interaction page for each article. This provides additional information for readers, and it is also one part of ETAI's overall quality assurance system.
In addition, the ETAI provides a number of other communication services for the researchers in each of its participating science areas.
