Scope

The Electronic Transactions on Artificial Intelligence (ETAI) is a new kind of journal and medium for scientific communication, and uses modern Internet communication technology in novel ways. The basic idea is that submitted articles are subjected to an open review period of three periods before going to confidential refereeing by peers and eventual acceptance for the journal. Quality requirements are set at least as high as for conventional journals. The whole process is transparent: both the discussion during the open review period and the additional comments by the anonymous referees are made public on ETAI's article interaction pages. This provides additional information whereby readers can understand the relevance and ramification of an article. It is also one part of ETAI's overall quality assurance system.

In addition, the ETAI provides a number of other communication services for the researchers in each of its participating science areas.

All the working information of the ETAI is maintained in its webpage structure, which also contains additional information about patronage, policies, submission procedures, and so on.

Editions and Availability

The Transactions are published in electronic and paper editions. The present, electronic edition is published by Linköping University Electronic Press. The concurrent paper edition is published by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and distributed through the editor-in-chief.

The electronic edition is freely available without charge. The copyright of each published article belongs to its author(s), and published articles are subject to an agreement between authors and publisher whereby free access to the article is guaranteed. The Electronic Press is committed to keeping the articles available at the URL mentioned above for at least 25 years counting from the date of publication.

The paper edition is distributed to a limited number of libraries and other subscribers worldwide, and looks identically alike to (a printout of) the electronic edition. For information about purchasing paper copies of the paper edition (for example, for researchers not having access to the Internet), please contact the Editor-in-Chief.
