EPIA'99 9th Portuguese Conference on Artificial Intelligence Évora, Portugal, September 21-24, 1999 Under the auspices of the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence http://www.eventos.uevora.pt/epia/ SUBMISSION DEADLINE IN ONE MONTH FROM TODAY The EPIA'99 Program Committee invites submissions of technical papers for the 9th Portuguese Conference on Artificial Intelligence which is to be held in Évora, Portugal, by September 21-24, 1999. As in previous issues ('89, '91, '93, '95 and '97), EPIA'99 will be run as an international conference with an international Programme Committee, English being the official language, and the proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag in their Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence series. The scientific program encompasses tutorials, invited lectures, workshops (for more information, and submission of papers to workshops, see the EPIA'99 WEB-page), and paper presentations. The conference is devoted to all areas of Artificial Intelligence and will cover both theoretical and foundational issues and applications as well. Submissions must not exceed 15 pages, including title page, figures, and references. The title page must contain: title and authors; physical and e-mail addresses; an abstract of no more than 200 words; a list of keywords. Paper should be formatted according to Springer's LNCS format, details of which can be obtained from http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html, or by email from the conference organization (epia99@dmat.uevora.pt). Authors are invited to send manuscripts by electronic mail to epia99@dmat.uevora.pt, as uuencoded gzipped postcript files. Hard copy submission is also possible, by sending 5 copies of the manuscripts to the inquires address (see below). REVIEW OF PAPERS Submissions will be judged on significance, originality, quality and clarity. Each paper will be cross-reviewed by three referees.
