The AI Journal is pleased to announce two awards for papers published in the journal:
- The AIJ Classic Paper Award recognizes outstanding papers published at least 15 calendar years ago in the AI Journal that are exceptional in their significance and impact.
- The AIJ Prominent Paper Award recognizes outstanding papers published not more than five years ago in the AI Journal that are exceptional in their significance and impact.
Nominations are now solicited for papers published in AIJ between 2008 and 2013 for the 2013 Prominent Paper award. For the Classic Paper award, due to the large number of papers published in AIJ since 1970, the AIJ Awards Committee adopts the following rolling sliding window scheme: until we reach a steady state, only papers published in a window of 10 years, starting 1970, with a sliding window of 5 years, will be eligible. This gives:
2013: 1970-1979
2014: 1975-1984
2015: 1980-1989
2016: 1985-1994
2017: 1990-1999
2017: steady state, all papers published 15 years ago are eligible from now on.
So for this year, eligible papers for the Classic Paper award are those published in AIJ between 1970 and 1979.
The nomination deadline is 31 March 2013. Information about the format of nominations and the evaluation criteria for these two awards can be found here:
