The aim of the course is to give knowledge on issues underlying the design and implementation of particular types of modern database systems.
Course on data modeling (e.g. using entity-relationship model or UML) and
relational databases (including relational model, relational algebra, SQL,
query processing, data
structures, transactions, recovery)
Course on artificial intelligence
- Object-oriented and extended relational database systems
- Semi-structured data
- Integration models for access to heterogeneous information sources
The course is given in an intensive format ("crash course") at a conference facility.
Research articles and lecture notes.
Take home exam and active participation in group discussions
4.5 HEC (Higher Education Credits)
The course is an intensive course consisting of 2-3 day sessions
(usually 2-3 sessions) at the study centre/university. The course has no
admission fee, but course participants (or the groups they belong to)
pay for travel and any food and accomodation. (For students registered
with CUGS, the research school will pay for food and accomodation.) More
