Grace Hopper inspires computer girls
During September a group of ten women from LiU attended the conference Grace
Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. The theme for this year's conference
was ”Collaborating across boundaries”. It was a unique opportunity to get a
common scientific inspiration for undergraduate students, PhD students and
researchers. Grace Hopper was awarded an honourary doctoral award at Linköping
University and cooperated with Harold Lawson, one of the early professors at
IDA.

Influential Paper Award
ICAPS 2010 Influential Paper Award was given to the article "Admissible Heuristics for Optimal Planning" (2000), written by Patrik Haslum while he was a Ph.D. student at IDA, together with Hector Geffner as a guest researcher at the time. ICAPS (International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling) is the top conference in the automated planning area. This paper opened up a whole new area in planning research which is one of the most active today, ten years later!
Best Paper Presentation Award at CSEE&T 2010
The presentation of paper "Should Software Engineering Projects be the Backbone
or the Tail of Computing Curricula?" by David Broman received the award for
best paper presentation at the 23th IEEE Conference on Software Engineering
Education and Training, Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
